Up to 308 years in prison sought for social media influencer couple

The indictment prepared against social media influencer Neslim Güngen and her husband İnanç Güngen has been accepted in the case known publicly as the 'Influencers Investigation,' conducted by the Küçükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. The couple will be tried on charges of being organization leaders, facing prison sentences ranging from 91 years and 9 months to 308 years.

Following an operation carried out by the Istanbul Police Department's Financial Crimes Investigation Branch in July 2024, 26 people, including Neslim and İnanç Güngen, were detained. While 19 of these individuals were arrested, the others were released pending trial. In addition to the couple, 23 other defendants face various charges in the indictment.

CHARGES AND VICTIMS

The investigation began with a complaint filed with the Istanbul Police on November 10, 2023. The complaint alleged that Neslim Güngen was laundering money and issuing fake invoices through her beauty centers. It was also noted that the couple owned numerous properties and companies. Individuals who were victimized by franchise agreements at the beauty centers are also included in the case as complainants.

PUBLIC HEALTH AND FRAUD ALLEGATIONS

The indictment states that personnel working with forged documents at Neslim Güngen's beauty centers endangered public health. Furthermore, it is alleged that fraud was committed in franchise agreements and that high termination fees were demanded from those who wished to leave. A private bank is also included in the file as a victim due to money transfers and loans taken out.

The Küçükçekmece 6th High Criminal Court has accepted the indictment and announced that the trial of the defendants will begin on September 29. Prison sentences ranging from 4 to 292 years are also being sought for the other defendants. The couple, Neslim and İnanç Güngen, will be tried on various charges of fraud and forgery.
