Usury investigation into Mustafa Sandal's father-in-law: Assets seized
A seizure order has been placed on all assets belonging to Cihan Sütşurup, a well-known figure in the stock market and father-in-law of famous artist Mustafa Sandal, as part of an ongoing investigation into usury.
As part of an ongoing usury investigation in Istanbul, a comprehensive seizure order has been implemented on the assets of businessman Cihan Sütşurup. The decision covers the real estate, bank accounts, and financial investments of Sütşurup, who is the father-in-law of famous artist Mustafa Sandal.
This precautionary measure, taken following an examination by the responsible Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, focuses on the suspicious financial activities of Sütşurup, who is considered one of the significant actors in the stock market. Details reflected in the investigation file against Sütşurup indicate that his transactions in capital markets have also become a subject of inquiry.
According to information previously reported to the public, suspicious transactions were also detected regarding a cryptocurrency account registered in the name of Cihan Sütşurup's daughter, Simge Sütşurup. A suspicious activity report was filed by a popular crypto exchange to the Financial Crimes Investigation Board (MASAK) under the scope of "financing of terrorism and money laundering." The grounds for the report included amounts inconsistent with the declared income in account movements, uncertainties regarding the source of the transactions, and the allegation that these funds might be linked to Sütşurup's stock market operations.
In its assessment, the crypto exchange highlighted that the transfer of significant amounts to the relevant accounts and the fact that Simge Sütşurup's income status was insufficient to explain these movements were noteworthy. For this reason, the accounts were suspended, and the process was referred to the relevant institutions for a detailed investigation of the matter.
