Worker accused of denying entry to a woman wearing a hijab at a pool in Mersin arrested

In the Mezitli district of Mersin, the pool worker B.D., who was detained as part of an investigation into allegations that a woman wearing a hijab was denied entry to a pool at a residential complex, has been arrested.

After 35-year-old A.T., who had gone to the Zafer Site in the Seymenli neighborhood for a vacation, claimed she was not allowed into the pool because she was wearing a hijab, police teams initiated proceedings on June 19. As part of the investigation, pool worker B.D. was taken into custody.

After being processed at the police station and referred to the courthouse, B.D. was initially released by the on-duty magistrate judge under judicial control conditions.

The Mersin Chief Public Prosecutor's Office appealed the suspect's release. Upon the appeal, B.D. was taken back into custody and subsequently arrested by the court to which he was referred.

It was also learned that there is an arrest warrant for the site manager, M.G., who has been determined to be abroad, as part of the investigation.
