Following this statement, Cem Garipoğlu's father Mehmet Nida Garipoğlu applied to the Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, requesting that his son's grave be opened and a DNA match be performed.

According to the report by Sabah, Father Garipoğlu, through his lawyer, submitted a request to the Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor's Office for his son's grave to undergo an "exhumation" and for a DNA match to be conducted.

In the petition, Mehmet Nida Garipoğlu pointed out that although more than 10 years have passed since the murder committed by his son, the issue has been brought to the agenda periodically, intermittently, yet in a continuous manner.

Furthermore, the petition stated, "Because it resonates with a certain segment of society and, in today's terms, generates 'clicks,' past events regarding the case are being distorted and spread through social media via fake news in the form of conspiracy theories. These conspiracy theories eventually become urban legends, finding traction among a large segment of society, and these lies are given credence. As a result, the public is being led to believe that the client's son did not die and was smuggled out of prison." it was noted.

'CONSPIRACY THEORIES ARE FINDING TRACTION'

"WE HAVE BEEN LYNCHED AS A FAMILY"

The petition pointed out that Mehmet Nida Garipoğlu is also a father who has lost his son, emphasizing that despite the time that has passed since the incident, his grief has not been allowed to fade, and that the family has been punished by misleading the public with unrealistic accusations.

'BRINGING THE TRUTH TO LIGHT...'

Münevver Karabulut's father's request to open the grave having been rejected, the petition states that the family has been subjected to public lynching, noting: "In order to investigate the unrealistic claim—which was proven by the autopsy report conducted in the past, yet has found resonance among certain segments of society and casts suspicion on all these parties, damaging trust in the relevant institutions (the Prosecutor's Office, the Judicial Organization, Prison Administration, and the Forensic Medicine Institute)—he consents to and even requests the opening of his son's grave. He has suffered such grief and anguish that he wishes for the truth to be revealed once again."

REQUEST FOR EXHUMATION AND DNA MATCHING

The petition requested that, if the claim in question were true, it would constitute a crime, and since the location where the crime would have been committed is Silivri Prison, a decision for 'exhumation' should be made and the truth revealed through DNA matching.
