Actress Berna Laçin has been detained following an investigation launched by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office over a social media post in which she wrote, "Izmir was occupied before, too, don't be afraid."

The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office had launched an investigation into actress Berna Laçin for using the phrases "Izmir was occupied before, too, don't be afraid" on her social media account.

Laçin, who is being investigated under Article 216 of the Turkish Penal Code for the crime of "inciting the public to hatred and hostility or insulting," was detained by officers from the Istanbul Police Department's Security Branch.

It was learned that a search was conducted at Laçin's home in Üsküdar in accordance with a court order.
