Actress Elçin Sangu: 'I am receiving death threats'
Actress Elçin Sangu reacted to those who argue that artists should not express their opinions on political issues. Emphasizing that she is a citizen, Sangu said, "Expressing my opinion is my constitutional right. However, at times, I even receive death threats."
TV and film actress Elçin Sangu spoke about artists expressing their opinions on political issues.
Appearing as a guest on the program "Tanemin sorası var" (Tanem has a question), hosted by Tanem Sivar on the YouTube channel Commun, Sangu reacted to the criticism directed at artists for expressing their views on both political and daily life issues.
In her remarks, where she stated, "I am also a citizen of this country; expressing my opinion is my constitutional right," Sangu said the following:
"They say: actors and artists should not get involved in politics. I am a citizen of this country, and if there is anyone who should raise their voice, it should be these people, if possible. We are not entering politics; I am not standing up and giving speeches like a party leader. I am sharing my opinion; I am sharing what I think.
'I DO NOT FIND IT RIGHT'
This is also my constitutional right. I mean, what does the subject have to do with my profession? I really, everyone knows, I didn't even hand anyone over to a lawyer in my circle. I didn't even bother. But in the meantime, death threats, this and that, you know, insults, all hell breaking loose... I didn't even care. Because I really do not find it right. If there are things that need to be expressed, putting everything aside professionally, as a citizen of this country, I want to continue to express them."
