Actress Nurseli İdiz: 'I wouldn't be like Seçil Erzan'

Actress Nurseli İdiz: 'I wouldn't be like Seçil Erzan'

TV and film actress Nurseli İdiz was a guest on the YouTube program "Şimdiki Aklım Olsaydı" (If I Had My Current Mind), hosted by Armağan Çağlayan.

The actress, who was once in the spotlight due to the financial difficulties she experienced, reflected on her past.

After finishing high school, İdiz was accepted into both the Boğaziçi University Department of Economics and the Hacettepe University State Conservatory. When asked, "If you had your current mind, which university would you have attended?" she replied: "I would have tried to study both, but I probably still would have chosen this profession."

'MY FATHER WENT BANKRUPT JUST LIKE ME'

İdiz continued her remarks with a humorous reference to Seçil Erzan, who is facing potential imprisonment on charges of defrauding famous football players and business people with promises of high returns: "Also, if you consider my relationship with numbers, I would have caused much greater disasters for Turkey. I wouldn't be like Seçil Erzan, but you might find that a bank branch had collapsed. What? Who is the manager? Manager Nurseli, that's for sure."

When asked, “Has your relationship with money never been good?” the famous actress replied: “Yes. I think this is a subconscious thing. It’s about viewing the subject of earning money with a sense of guilt. During the personal development process, all of these things are laid out on the table. That’s why I lost very large sums of money. My subconscious was asking, ‘How am I earning this much?’ because my mother and father also had a poor relationship with money. When they had money, they spent a lot; there were no savings or anything. My father went bankrupt just like me."

'WE LOST OUR HEADS'

Nurseli İdiz also answered the question, "Did you never save any money?":

"I did save, I had a lot of assets. We are the first victims of the money earned from television. Look at the young people today, see how rationally they act. They keep their affairs very tight; we suddenly lost our heads. In 1996, we opened a company for my husband. Financial matters were not controlled in any way, nothing was declared to the Tax Office, etc. This was not done intentionally, but out of ignorance. Little by little, those tax debts emerged. This time, to pay the debts, I went to a loan shark and mortgaged my assets."
