Actress Olivia Munn undergoing cancer treatment

U.S. actress Olivia Munn, known for her roles in productions such as X-Men and The Newsroom, announced in a social media post that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

Munn, who waited for the most difficult part of her illness to pass before announcing her diagnosis, explained that she underwent a genetic test for cancer risk in February 2023 and, despite the result coming back negative, she had a biopsy at her doctor's request.

SHE HAD A BIOPSY

Explaining that if her doctor had not requested one final test, she would not have known she had cancer until her next mammogram, Olivia Munn learned through the biopsy that she had Luminal B breast cancer, an aggressive and fast-spreading type of cancer, in both breasts.

'I HOPE I CAN BE AN INSPIRATION'

Munn, who underwent a double mastectomy, stated that she only cried twice during this process because she didn't even have time to cry.

Describing how she felt completely fine one day and woke up in a hospital bed the next day after a 10-hour surgery, Munn said, "I'm lucky. We caught it with enough time to have options. I want the same for any woman who might have to face this one day. I hope that sharing this helps others find comfort, inspiration, and support on their own journeys."
