Ahmet Güneştekin: I would have loved for the burned weapons to be given to me
Batman-born world-renowned artist Ahmet Güneştekin stated that he wished the weapons burned as part of the PKK's disarmament process had been given to him.
Painter Ahmet Güneştekin, who has gained international fame for his works in the field of modern art, shared an image of the weapons that were symbolically burned in the city of Sulaymaniyah following the dissolution of the PKK.
In a post on his X account, Güneştekin said, "I would have loved for the burned weapons to be given to me... #MemoryRoom"

With his "Memory Room" project, Ahmet Güneştekin aimed to make social traumas that remain in collective memory visible through art.
The painter later stated in a post on his Instagram account that the burned weapons were "the most beautiful image on earth."
