Surprise visit from Ali Koç to the 'Zaferin Rengi' set

Fenerbahçe President Ali Koç and his entourage visited the Kocaeli set of the film Zaferin Rengi.

Meeting with director Abdullah Oğuz and the film's cast on set, Koç spoke from the presidential office of the former Fenerbahçe club building.

Koç said, “We were very impressed by the film and the set. Hopefully, our film will be released on February 16. We will have premieres before that; both in Istanbul and in Germany. We strongly believe the film will be a success. This point was reached with patience and fortitude. For years, there have been many applications to the club to make a film about the General Harington Cup.

I experienced this both when I was an executive and as president. But for one reason or another, it never happened. Therefore, I would like to congratulate Mr. Abdullah and his team for being the first to turn the story of this film into a movie," he said.

'WHO FOLLOWS IN ATATÜRK'S FOOTSTEPS IS WHAT MATTERS'

Continuing his remarks, Koç said, "We believe that Fenerbahçe fans will also strongly embrace this film because such a story is rarely granted to any community. To remind you, we are the children of a community that performed very important duties in the liberation and then the establishment of this Republic, this young country.

We have many stories. Many for this Republic, and many for this country. When it comes to our Ata (Atatürk), there are many anecdotes in history as documents, information, and events. We, as Fenerbahçe fans, never say ‘Atatürk supports Fenerbahçe,’ even if we believe it. What do we say? ‘It is not important who Atatürk supported, but who follows in Atatürk's footsteps.’

Since this community was founded, no matter who has been at the helm or on the board, it has never deviated from this even by a gram. That is why the event of the Harington Cup and its historical identification with us is very important. In fact, our Ata personally came to our club and wrote his feelings and thoughts about Fenerbahçe into the club's memorial book with his own hands.”

Directed by Abdullah Oğuz, Zaferin Rengi signals that it will bring the period it depicts to the screen with all its reality as a period film, through its acting, makeup, and costume designs.

Zaferin Rengi will bring to the silver screen the breathtaking story of unique friendships, a matchless love, and a sporting competition that left its mark on history; it constructs its narrative around the legend of the General Harington Cup, considered one of the greatest sporting achievements in the history of the Republic, during the occupation of Istanbul between 1918 and 1923, and the unique resistance organized against enemy forces in Anatolia.

In addition to the film's protagonist, Kubilay Aka, one of the talented actors of the new generation who will portray Galip Bey, the founding member and legendary captain of Fenerbahçe, and Gülper Özdemir, who plays the role of Peyker, the film also features powerful actors of the screen and cinema: Nejat İşler (Sabri Toprak), Timuçin Esen (Topkapılı Cambaz), Yiğit Özşener (Mustafa Kemal Pasha), Gonca Vuslateri (Vera), and Birce Akalay (Halide Edib Adıvar), who bring to life the symbolic politicians, intellectuals, military figures, and heroic athletes of Turkish football history of that era.
