Astronaut Alper Gezeravcı involved in traffic accident
In Kocaeli, the car carrying Alper Gezeravcı was involved in an accident. Gezeravcı and 2 others sustained minor injuries in the crash.
Astronaut Alper Gezeravcı was injured in a traffic accident in Kocaeli. The accident occurred on the Istanbul-bound section of the TEM Highway in İzmit, when a moving car collided with a bus.
Alper Gezeravcı and 2 other people in the car were injured in the accident.
MEDICAL TEAMS DISPATCHED
Following a report to the 112 Emergency Call Center, medical and police teams were dispatched to the scene of the accident.
The injured were taken to the hospital after receiving initial treatment. It was learned that the health condition of the injured is good.
WHO IS ALPER GEZERAVCI?
The first Turkish space traveler, Alper Gezeravcı, was born in 1979 in the Silifke district of Mersin. Due to his father's profession, he lived in different provinces of Turkey while growing up.
According to information on the Axiom Space website, Gezeravcı completed his undergraduate degree in Electronic Engineering at the Turkish Air Force Academy in Istanbul. He also earned a master's degree at the Air Force Institute of Technology at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.

Serving as a fighter pilot in the Turkish Air Force, Gezeravcı has 15 years of flight experience in various aircraft, including the F-16. He also served as a captain pilot at Turkish Airlines for seven years.
Most recently, Gezeravcı was appointed as the Standardization Squadron Academic Wing Commander at the 10th Base Command in Adana. He was responsible for the standardization and evaluation of the squadron, the organization of all training documents according to Air Force standards, the examination of all F-16 and KC-135R pilots before their check flights, and the auditing of squadron documentation standards.
