Ayşe Barım's sister reacts to re-arrest decision: She was on the verge of a stroke

A statement has come from the sister of ID İletişim co-founder Ayşe Barım regarding her health condition, following a request for her re-arrest on charges of 'attempting to overthrow the government.'

Legal expert Tuba Torun conveyed the statements of Barım's sister on Sözcü TV.

The statements conveyed by Torun are as follows:

"We are very sad and helpless. There is a much worse picture compared to just 3 months ago. She is currently under observation and undergoing tests. However, depending on the situation, she will be sent back to prison."

'MY MOTHER WAS ON THE VERGE OF A STROKE'

The continuation of the message from Ayşe Barım's sister is as follows:

"Our mother is very old; when she heard that my sister was re-arrested, she was on the verge of a stroke. This arrest has destroyed us as a family. Please express our desperation. We bow to the judiciary. Just let them not take her from the hospital to prison."

THE INCIDENT

Following a process that began last year with allegations of monopolization in the TV series industry, an investigation was launched into Barım in January 2025.

Ayşe Barım, who was detained and arrested following the investigation, was released on October 1st during the hearing on the condition of house arrest and a travel ban.

The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office appealed the decision on October 2nd.

The Istanbul 26th High Criminal Court found its decision appropriate, but the higher 27th High Criminal Court ordered Barım's re-arrest.

Barım is still receiving treatment in the hospital under police escort.
