BBP files criminal complaint against Mabel Matiz's song

The Great Unity Party (BBP) has filed a criminal complaint with the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, alleging that Mabel Matiz's song "Perperişan" contains obscene content. BBP Deputy Chairman in charge of Legal Affairs, Lawyer Samet Bağcı, stated in his announcement that the song threatens social values and the family structure.

Bağcı said, "In order to protect the moral fabric of our society, we cannot remain silent against content that could harm our family structure. For this reason, we have made an official application regarding Mabel Matiz's song under the crime of 'obscenity'."

ACCESS BAN ON THE SONG

The Ministry of Family and Social Services had previously applied for an access ban on the song "Perperişan," which was released on September 5. The Ankara Duty Criminal Court of Peace issued an access ban decision on the grounds that the song is contrary to public order and the family structure.

Following these developments, the Ministry of Interior also announced that it had filed a criminal complaint against Mabel Matiz with the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. The Ministry stated that proceedings were initiated under Article 226 of the Turkish Penal Code.

The BBP's criminal complaint and the access ban imposed on the song have fueled debates regarding the impact of Mabel Matiz's work on society.
