23-year-old beauty queen Landy Parraga was subjected to an armed attack at a venue she was visiting in the Los Rios province, one of the regions with the highest crime rates in Ecuador.
Parraga lost her life at the scene.
INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED
Following the chilling murder, officials from the Ecuadorian Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation to collect evidence and find those behind the assassination.
It has emerged that the beauty queen's name was mentioned in a conversation during the ongoing 'Metastasis' case, which is an investigation into an organized crime structure that has led to numerous arrests.
On the other hand, there are also allegations that the beauty queen was linked to the late drug trafficker Leandro Norero in a money laundering case.
