Berna Laçin's first post after surgery: "I am waiting for the day I will stand up"

Stating that her condition posed a serious danger and that even walking had been prohibited, Laçin had announced that she would be entering surgery in a wheelchair. Berna Laçin has now shared an update following her surgery.

Sharing a photo taken in her hospital room, Laçin wrote the following:

Prof. Dr. Azmi Hamzaoğlu arrived and our doctor explained the situation as follows:

“The surgery lasted 9 hours and was a very difficult one. A disc protruding from between the vertebrae in the back had torn the spinal cord membrane and pierced inward, becoming excessively calcified, and a similar disc had emerged opposite it, which is why the surgery took so long.

We cleaned and removed them, placed a total of six screws into three vertebrae, and covered them with a plate. It is a very, very rare case; we will even teach this as a lesson. 

For the spinal cord to repair itself, she will remain bedridden in the hospital for a week to ten days; she will not get up at all. Let it repair itself thoroughly, and then we will have her sit up and walk. The surgery was very successful; the fact that you were walking was already a miracle, how you managed for so long in that condition is a separate story…”

Note: The person next to our doctor Azmi in the photo is my dear friend Tuğba, who years ago was shattered from her neck to her spine in a major traffic accident, thanks to the miracle of our doctor Azmi…

I am waiting for the day when I will join that photo standing up, again through the miracle of Dr. Azmi.
