Beware of luxury watches! Cases of loss and theft have tripled

It has been determined that cases of luxury watches being lost or stolen increased threefold in 2023 compared to the previous year. According to a report published by The Watch Register, which provides data on lost, stolen, and counterfeit luxury watches worldwide, the number of luxury watches lost or stolen last year was three times higher than the year before.

The London-based group The Watch Register released a report containing data on luxury watches from the last decade. According to the report, while approximately 30,000 luxury watches were lost or stolen worldwide in 2022, this number exceeded 100,000 last year, with the total value of these watches estimated at approximately 2 billion dollars.

"PEOPLE HAVE STARTED TO BECOME HESITANT"

Katya Hills, Managing Director of The Watch Register, stated, "Due to the rise in violent theft cases on the streets, people have started to become hesitant about wearing their watches in public."

Hills noted that thieves are able to sell stolen items at high prices in second-hand shops.

The London Metropolitan Police Service announced that in over 300 luxury watch thefts that occurred on city streets between April and September 2022, watches with a total value of 5 million dollars were stolen.
