Birce Akalay's outcry over imprisoned Ayşe Barım: 'She has lost 20 kilos'

Akalay shared a message for talent manager Ayşe Barım, who has been held in prison for more than five months.

Talent manager and owner of ID İletişim, Ayşe Barım, who was detained on charges of monopolization in the television sector but arrested for "aiding in the attempt to overthrow the Government of the Republic of Turkey" by allegedly directing artists during the Gezi Park Protests 12 years ago, appeared before a judge for the first time after 162 days.

At the first hearing, it was decided that Barım would remain in custody. The trial will continue on October 1.

BARIM: I WANT MY RIGHT TO LIFE BACK

Unable to hold back tears during the hearing, Barım said in her defense, "I have not attempted or aided in anything aimed at overthrowing the Republic of Turkey... I have a very serious heart condition and a brain aneurysm that were diagnosed before I entered here. Six separate diseases were detected in my heart. I am struggling to survive in extremely unhealthy conditions... I want my right to life back. My honor, my reputation, and my right to life have all been taken from me. I trust in your justice and your conscience."

AKALAY REBELS AGAINST WHAT IS HAPPENING

Actress Birce Akalay shared a photo taken with Ayşe Barım on her social media account and used the following expressions:

"Neither her voice leaves my ears, nor her eyes, which were still trying to give us strength throughout the hearing despite her face, which has lost 20 kilos and is exhausted by illnesses that carry a risk of death at any moment.

Ayşe Barım is fighting for her life with all her strength and faith in a cell, with 'three brain aneurysms' and '6 different heart conditions requiring urgent surgery,' to prove her innocence to the judiciary, for her family and her loved ones. We have tried to announce to you many times that she is at risk of sudden death. She is not just my manager, but a dear friend who wants her right to life, her reputation, and her honor back, and at this point, the right to life is essential.

Living with this fear every day and every night is very, very difficult for her and her family, as well as for us, her friends and loved ones. I have no doubt that supreme justice will be served one day. The presumption of innocence and the principle that detention should be a last resort must be taken into consideration. During this time, I do not want my dear friend to lose her life..."
