WHO IS BÜLENT ORTAÇGİL?

Bülent Ortaçgil (born March 1, 1950, Ankara) is a Turkish singer, songwriter, and composer.

Entering the music scene in 1974 with his first album titled "Benimle Oynar Mısın" (Will You Play With Me), the album did not make a significant impact at the time but achieved cult status over the years. Ortaçgil, who withdrew from the music market until the late 1980s, worked with Fikret Kızılok in the mid-1980s and re-released the compositions he had made during those years.

Continuing his musical career on his own from the late 1980s onwards, Ortaçgil worked with important musicians such as Erkan Oğur, Gürol Ağırbaş, Akın Eldes, Cem Aksel, and Baki Duyarlar on his albums and stage performances, and he has released 7 solo albums throughout his career.

On the other hand, he also performed duets with vocalists such as Zuhal Olcay, Birsen Tezer, Teoman, and Leman Sam.

In 2000, a tribute album titled "Ortaçgil İçin Söylenmiş Ortaçgil Şarkıları" (Ortaçgil Songs Sung for Ortaçgil) was released with the participation of many famous musicians.

He found a unique place in Turkish popular music by describing the individual's internal conflicts with themselves and their surroundings in his songs, always writing his own lyrics and compositions, and through the folk, jazz, and rock influences in his music.
