'Caravan' hunt in Büyükçekmece

Teams from the district and metropolitan municipalities have taken action against caravans that have been left by their owners for months along the coastline of Istanbul's Büyükçekmece and Beylikdüzü districts.

After the owners of many of the caravans had been contacted and notified by the teams previously, the caravans that were not removed began to be towed to impound lots by teams from the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB), Büyükçekmece Municipality, and Beylikdüzü Municipality starting in the morning hours. Municipal police teams cited "long-term occupation of public spaces" and "narrowing of roads" as the reason for towing the caravans.

"THEY CALLED, WE CAME TO REMOVE IT"

A citizen who was notified to remove their caravan said, "I just bought the caravan, it hasn't been more than a month. We had left notes for communication. They called, and we came to remove it. The municipality will likely show us a better place for these."
