Carlos Castaneda, the face of Colombian coffee, has passed away
Carlos Castaneda, known as the face of Colombia's world-famous Juan Valdez coffee brand, has died at the age of 58. The news of Castaneda's death was met with sadness across the country.
In a statement made on its social media account, the Colombian National Federation of Coffee Growers announced that Castaneda, who represented the country's world-renowned coffee and the famous character Juan Valdez, had passed away.
Offering condolences to Castaneda's family, the federation stated, "We are saddened to share the news of the passing of our friend Carlos Castaneda, who represented the Juan Valdez character for 20 years. He was a wonderful person who dedicated himself to this brand. Carlos left us with many beautiful memories."
NEW BRAND FACE YET TO BE DETERMINED
While the news of Castaneda's death was met with sadness throughout the country, it is not yet clear who the new face of the brand will be.
Juan Valdez, one of Colombia's best coffee brands, has been in the industry for many years as one of the world's top producers of Arabica coffee.
