Cem Yılmaz breaks his silence: Says 'Everything Will Be Just Fine' without naming 'İmamoğlu'! 'I was coming back while you were leaving'

The silence of several famous figures following the detention of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu in a dawn operation on March 19 and his subsequent arrest on corruption charges on March 23 had drawn attention. At the top of this list was the famous comedian Cem Yılmaz.

The famous comedian broke his silence days later with a statement on his social media account.

Sharing a holiday message, Yılmaz stated that he had left daily politics years ago, saying, "In our country, for the last 15-20 years, politics has been conducted more through mutual destruction, humiliation, and intimidation rather than a race to serve the nation. The country has no sense of normalcy left."

Emphasizing that he is not pleased with the current situation, Yılmaz responded to those boycotting him by saying, "If you want to boycott me, here is a little piece of information: I am not selling anything, my dear brother. I want you to win."

At the end of his post, Yılmaz said, "Let the young people go, brother, there is really no need for this. The holiday is tomorrow," calling for the release of the young people who were detained and arrested.

Yılmaz's post is as follows:

"Tomorrow is the Holiday!

I wish everyone a happy holiday. It has been years since I left daily politics; I am talking about the kind of politics where people say 'do your job and leave politics alone.' But in our country, for the last 15-20 years, politics has been conducted more through mutual destruction, humiliation, and intimidation rather than a race to serve the nation. The country has no sense of normalcy left. If it rains, people argue, 'Is it raining on you? No, it's raining on me.' The kindness that I knew would come to the crowds during Ramadan has also been absent for years. Tomorrow is the holiday. My wish is for the many people taking to the streets to be heard and for the state to serve the nation as stated in the laws and oaths. And a bit of information for a couple of fools: I don't have a manager, I never have. I have been a taxpayer for 30 years; the tax office gives me a plaque with one hand and says they will check my books again with the other, for 20 years now. No problem, I wish everyone were checked. I share things whenever I feel like it. In my mind, I have no difference or privilege from the average citizen on the street. At most, I might be troubled enough not to laugh at Pikachu. I am not pleased with the situation. I want justice to be served for everyone who demands their rights, including the madmen who want me to say whatever comes to my mouth like a loose cannon. If you want to boycott me, here is a little piece of information: I am not selling anything, my dear brother. I want you to win. Let the young people go, brother, there is really no need for this. The holiday is tomorrow."

In his next post, Yılmaz shared the poster for the film Everything Will Be Just Fine, in which he starred alongside Mazhar Alanson years ago, and added the note, "I was coming back while you were leaving."
