Ceylan Ertem reacts to the investigation launched into Manifest: 'Address the children dragged into crime and the gangs first'

The concert by the group Manifest, which took place at Istanbul's Küçükçiftlik Park, became the subject of an investigation on charges of "Indecent Behavior" and "Exhibitionism." This investigation, initiated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, has caused a wide stir on social media and divided public opinion.

The young music group was targeted by certain circles.

SHARP REACTION FROM CEYLAN ERTEM

Singer Ceylan Ertem reacted sharply to the investigation decision via social media. Ertem stated that such investigations are an attack on performing arts and women's freedom. Drawing attention to femicides and the issue of child brides in the country, Ertem included the following statements in her post:

'The investigation launched into the group Manifest is a clear attack on performing arts and women's freedom.

While there are thousands of child brides in this country, while just the other day a 15-year-old 'worker' girl was murdered at Boğaziçi University, while the majority has turned a deaf ear to the struggle regarding Law No. 6284, which is the life security of women, while hundreds of murders from Narin to Rojin remain in the dark, those who do not say a single word are making millions of posts about the clothes of women who take the stage! It is a disgrace! I am ashamed! That is exactly why, woe to us!

Women sing, dance, wear what they want, and exist freely on stage. Every attack targeting this freedom is a threat directed at the entire society.

What will happen if you punish Manifest? Will your children at home not follow K-pop groups, or the hundreds of examples of girl groups in the world? You cannot protect your children by acting as moral guardians. You protect them by trusting them, embracing them with love, educating them, and setting an example.

'Honor' killings are committed every minute in this country. Those dishonorable people are the ones who truly deserve your lynchings!

You should address the children dragged into crime and the gangs first! Not these beautiful young women!'
