In an incident that occurred the day before at a restaurant located in the Abdurrahman Nafiz Gürman neighborhood of Güngören, Istanbul, musician Umut Emre Aytekin (36) went to a branch of a fast-food chain in Merter with his fiancée Maria Zeppin to have coffee.

While they were sitting in the cafe, an argument broke out between Aytekin and Ceyhun T. (22) and Hayrettin Ö. (23), who were sitting at the table next to them, over allegations that they had made remarks to his girlfriend.

Aytekin was attacked by the two individuals while he was heading toward the counter to get coffee.

POLICE TEAMS DISPATCHED TO THE SCENE

His fiancée, Zeppin, intervened to save Aytekin, who collapsed to the ground following the kicks and punches from Ceyhun T. and Hayrettin Ö. Upon notification, police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene.

Aytekin, who received initial intervention from medical teams at the scene, was taken by ambulance to Bakırköy Sadi Konuk Training and Research Hospital.

Despite all interventions at the hospital, Aytekin lost his life.

ATTACKERS TURNED OUT TO BE MUSICIANS

It was learned that Ceyhun T. and Hayrettin Ö., who were taken into custody by the Güngören District Police Department teams, were also musicians. According to footage recorded by the security camera, the two suspects left the scene after Aytekin fell to the ground.

It was observed that the attackers returned to the scene after a while and waited over Aytekin, who was lying on the ground. The footage shows Aytekin and his fiancée arguing with Ceyhun T. and Hayrettin Ö. while sitting at the table, and then the attackers assaulting him with kicks and punches as Aytekin headed to the counter to get coffee.

The footage also shows his fiancée, Maria Zeppin, intervening to save Aytekin and being struck by the attackers during that time. The moments when Zeppin held Aytekin's head in her lap and cried after the attackers left the scene were also captured on camera.

Ceyhun T. and Hayrettin Ö., who were apprehended after the incident, were arrested and sent to prison.
