Court issues injunction against 'Cem Karaca'nın Gözyaşları' film!

A new development has emerged regarding the film 'Cem Karaca’nın Gözyaşları', which tells the life story of the artist Cem Karaca, whose unforgettable songs such as 'Tamirci Çırağı', 'Namus Belası', 'Bu Son Olsun' and 'Resimdeki Gözyaşları' remain on everyone's lips.

A court injunction has been issued against the film, which met with cinema-goers yesterday.

Cem Karaca's wife, İlkim Karaca, had applied to the Istanbul Intellectual and Industrial Property Rights Court to stop the screening of the film 'Cem Karaca'nın Gözyaşları', which is based on the artist's life.

INTERIM DECISION RENDERED

An interim decision was rendered in the ongoing trial. According to this decision, the distribution of the film has been halted.

Enforcement offices have been authorized to carry out the injunction.

'IT WOULD HAVE HURT CEM DEEPLY'

Cem Karaca's wife, İlkim Karaca, made the following statements to 12punto in recent days:

"I have a sensitivity regarding the accurate portrayal of events. Being ignored as his wife and legal heir in an important film project about Cem's life has saddened me..."

'I FIND IT DISRESPECTFUL'

Responding to the question, "Is it ethical to make a film about a person after their death?", Karaca said, "If it is done by obtaining permission from the legal heirs of the deceased, why not? However, I do not find an approach that says, 'I did it and it's done, I do not recognize the laws, the legal system, or the legal heirs of the deceased' without obtaining permission to be correct. In fact, I find such an approach disrespectful and disloyal."
