Court ruling on Aleyna Tilki: 'Sending flowers is sexual harassment'
A notable ruling has been issued regarding Muhammed Erkam A., an obsessed fan who went to singer Aleyna Tilki's home and sent her flowers. The court determined that sending flowers constitutes the crime of sexual harassment because the feelings were not mutual.
Singer Aleyna Tilki had filed a lawsuit against Muhammed Erkam A., who jumped over the razor wire of the residential complex where she lives in Üsküdar, went to her front door, and sent harassing messages.
The defendant, who claimed to have met Tilki on social media, said, "She found me talented and wanted to launch me into the industry. I sent flowers to her home because she asked me to."
Following this defense, a report was obtained from the Council of Forensic Medicine confirming that Erkam A. is of sound mind.
The defendant, Muhammed Erkam A., was sentenced to 1 year and 3 months in prison and a judicial fine of 3,320 Turkish Lira.
SENT FLOWERS TO HER PRIVATE RESIDENCE
According to the report by Günaydın, the court noted that the defendant sent the flowers not to the singer's workplace address, but to her private residence, and emphasized that this act, carried out despite the lack of mutual romantic interest, constitutes the crime of sexual harassment.
Muhammed Erkam A. was sentenced to a judicial fine of 3,320 Turkish Lira for the crime of sexual harassment against Aleyna Tilki, and 1 year and 3 months in prison for the crime of violating the immunity of a residence.
