Decision made to continue detention for Dilan and Engin Polat
It has been decided that the 8 defendants, including the couple Dilan and Engin Polat, who are accused of instigating the armed attack on the beauty center owned by social media influencer Banu Parlak, will remain in custody.
The lawyer for Dilan and Engin Polat, who are currently in custody as part of the investigation into the armed attack on Banu Parlak's beauty center, filed an objection to their detention with the Küçükçekmece 3rd Criminal Court of First Instance.
Evaluating the objection, the court panel stated that there is a risk of flight after considering the total sentence duration prescribed by law for the crime the defendants are charged with, the ratio of the time spent in custody to this duration, and the state of the evidence in the file.
The court ruled for the continued detention of defendants Dilan Polat, Engin Polat, Sezgin Polat, Batuhan İnci, İsmail Emre Arifoğlu, Nizamettin Bilgili, Onur Abiç, and Yunus Emre Yıldız.
BACKGROUND OF THE CASE
An indictment was prepared by the Küçükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office as part of the investigation conducted on the grounds that Dilan Polat had ordered the shooting of Banu Parlak's workplace.
In the indictment, it was requested that Barış Boyun, Beratcan, and Batin Can Gökdemir be sentenced to separate prison terms ranging from 8 years and 4 months to 23 years for the crimes of "establishing an organization to commit armed crimes," "armed threat in concert with more than one person," "damaging property," and "carrying an unlicensed firearm."
For Dilan, Engin, and Sezgin Polat, it was requested that they be sentenced to separate prison terms ranging from 2 years and 4 months to 8 years for the crimes of "instigating the crime of armed threat in concert with more than one person" and "instigating property damage."
The indictment also requested that the other defendants, Batuhan İnci, İsmail Emre Arifoğlu, Nizamettin Bilgili, Onur Abiç, Yunus Emre Yıldız, and Sezgin Polat, be sentenced to prison terms ranging from 2 years and 4 months to 23 years for various crimes.
