Detention order for Fatma Soydaş

The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announced that an investigation has been launched into a social media user whose posts on TikTok and Instagram were deemed to constitute the crime of "publicly insulting the religious values adopted by a section of the public," and that a detention order has been issued for the suspect, along with a decision to block access to the accounts.

In the statement made by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was reported that an investigation was initiated after it was assessed that the posts made on TikTok and Instagram under the username "fffatmaase_" constituted the crime of 'publicly insulting the religious values adopted by a section of the public,' as regulated in Article 216/3 of the Turkish Penal Code. The statement noted that as a result of the investigations conducted, it was determined that the suspect was in Istanbul, and instructions were given for her to be taken into custody.

ACCESS BLOCK IMPOSED

It was noted that access to the social media accounts related to the posts deemed to constitute a crime was ordered to be blocked by the Ankara 5th Criminal Court of Peace with its decision dated July 21, 2026, and numbered 2026/8361 D.İş.

The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office statement indicated that the investigation proceedings are being carried out meticulously.
