Duygu Özgül Kalebayır, who abused her 5-year-old male cousin on TikTok, has been arrested

TikTok user Duygu Özgül Kalebayır's video, published on her social media account, has taken over Turkey's agenda.

Reactions were swift against Kalebayır, who published footage of herself lip-to-lip with her 5-year-old male cousin.

Making a statement on social media after the footage caused outrage, Kalebayır said, "The child's family was right next to us. Abuse is secret, it is doing things to kids in hidden corners."

'SHE HAS BEEN DETAINED'

Following the reactions, the Ministry of Family and Social Policies also took action.

In a statement made by the Ministry, it was said, "From the moment the incident spread on social media, our Provincial Directorate teams took action in coordination with police units. The individual in the video has been detained. During the interview with the child's family, information was obtained that the video is old. Counseling services have been provided to the family by our professional staff."

ARRESTED

In the video, forcing the child to kiss her lips, she had used expressions such as, "Not like that, I like lips. Are those my lips? Kiss me, if you kiss me I'll let you go. We don't kiss on the cheek. You have always kissed me on the lips since your childhood."

After the video caused reactions on social media, Duygu Özgül Kalebayır was detained by teams from the Nevşehir Provincial Police Department's Anti-Cybercrime Branch and the Ürgüp District Police Department.

Following the completion of her processing at the police station, Duygu Özgül Kalebayır was brought to the Ürgüp Courthouse, where she was arrested and sent to prison.
