Ece Aksoy, founder of Ece Bar, passes away at 84
Ece Aksoy (84), an iconic figure in Istanbul's nightlife, has passed away at the hospital where she had been receiving treatment in the intensive care unit for some time.
Ece Aksoy, who was diagnosed with "lung cancer" approximately three years ago, was admitted to the Koç University Faculty of Medicine Hospital about a month ago with the onset of pneumonia during her successful treatment process.
After receiving treatment there for about two weeks under the care of her daughter Zeynep Aksoy, Aksoy was discharged, but was readmitted to intensive care last week and subsequently passed away.
The funeral arrangements for Ece Aksoy, whose passing has left her friends in mourning, will be announced at a later date.
Journalist, writer, and business owner Ece Aksoy had shaped the entertainment industry with Ece Bar in Arnavutköy and Kuruçeşme. Most recently, Aksoy was operating another venue in Asmalımescit.
A statement on Sezen Aksu's fan page noted: "This photograph has a memory... On the night this photo was taken, Sezen Aksu, Ersin Salman, Ece Aksoy, Onat Kutlar, and Onno Tunç wrote the song 'Tutsak' together. Now we remember such beauties as memories. Goodbye, Ece Aksoy."
