The news of the death of author Mario Levi, known for his books such as 'Bir Şehre Gidememek' (Not Being Able to Go to a City), 'En Güzel Aşk Hikâyemiz' (Our Most Beautiful Love Story), and 'İstanbul Bir Masaldı' (Istanbul Was a Fairy Tale), was received with sadness in the art community.

FUNERAL PROGRAM ANNOUNCED

The funeral program for Levi, whose sudden death left the art world and his loved ones in mourning, has been announced.

Levi will be laid to rest tomorrow (February 1) following a funeral ceremony to be held at the Acıbadem Jewish Cemetery at 13:00.

EMOTIONAL FAREWELL FROM HIS WIFE

The wife of the famous author Mario Levi, Ece Erdoğuş Levi, also expressed her grief on her social media account.

'MY MENTOR, MY GUIDE...'

Sharing a photo taken with her husband on Instagram, Levi stated, "Mario! My dear love, my greatest friend, my mentor, my guide... I am grateful for every day we spent together now. Rest in peace... I love you very much."

WHO IS MARIO LEVI?

The Jewish-origin author Levi was born in 1957. He graduated from Saint Michel French High School in 1975 and from Istanbul University's Department of French and Romance Philology in 1980. He wrote his first short story in 1975.

After 1984, he wrote for many publications such as Hokka magazine, Şalom, Cumhuriyet Newspaper, Cumhuriyet Dergi, Stüdyo İmge, Gösteri, Milliyet Sanat, Argos, and Oksijen.

His first book, Jacques Brel: Bir Yalnız Adam (Jacques Brel: A Lonely Man), was published in 1986. His first short story collection, Bir Şehre Gidememek, published in 1990, won that year's Haldun Taner Short Story Award.

He finished his book titled İstanbul Bir Masaldı, which he began in 1993, in six years and published it in 1999. With this work, he won the 2000 Yunus Nadi Novel Award.

In addition to writing, Mario Levi worked in various fields such as French teaching, importing, journalism, radio broadcasting, and copywriting. He also taught Creative Writing courses to people dedicated to this path in writing workshops.
