Electronic cigarette almost cost the life of famous singer's daughter

Electronic cigarettes, which have become increasingly common in recent years, especially among young people, almost cost the life of singer Selen Görgüzel's daughter, İlknaz Bektaş.

25-year-old İlknaz Bektaş was rushed to the hospital after experiencing chest tightness.

Bektaş, who had difficulty breathing, was taken into surgery. It was determined that air had leaked into Bektaş's lungs due to electronic cigarettes. 

Bektaş, who is currently in good condition, stated the following in a post on her Instagram account:

"Hello everyone. First of all, I would like to thank everyone who called, asked after me, and those who know me or were concerned without knowing me. I am glad you are here for not making me feel alone during this process. I don't usually like to make posts like this, but the fact that the post I made after my surgery on Friday helped people get rid of this situation really made me very happy."

"I USED TO SAY 'IT WON'T HAPPEN TO ME'"

"Many people have asked which brand caused it; believe me, I don't know either. We were making plastic materials, whose long-term effects we don't know, seem innocent with their colors and flavors. Like my peers, I had developed an addiction to these products, and I never expected something like this to happen to me. I eat very healthily and exercise every day; I used to say, 'It won't happen to me.' Because I am still very young, I used to say, 'Nothing will happen at this age.'"

"However, the surgery I underwent after the air bubbles that formed in my lung made it difficult for my heart to beat changed my opinion and perspective."

"Thanks again to everyone. I am very well, and I will be even better because I will take more care of myself from now on. However, I must say that although I was with the sweetest and most attentive doctors and nurses in the world, this process was not pleasant at all, and I was in a lot of pain. If there is anyone who can take a lesson from what I have been through, that would make me very happy. Other than that, I also saw some very funny comments, and I laughed a lot at them too."

Selen Görgüzel also said the following:

"My daughter İlknaz Bektaş experienced a serious health problem due to electronic cigarette (puff) use. As a result of the lungs' inability to filter the smoke, air bubbles formed around the heart, and these bubbles reached a level that prevented the heart from functioning, creating a life-threatening situation. Due to the seriousness of the situation, my child was urgently taken into surgery, and a successful intervention was performed by Prof. Dr. Çağatay Tezel."

"She is currently in the recovery process, and we believe that with God's permission, we will overcome this difficult period. We sincerely thank all our friends and loved ones who have been with us during this process, called to ask after us, and kept us in their prayers. We cannot answer the phones, but please do not worry, we are fine."

"Finally, in light of this difficult experience we have had, we would like to warn everyone once again about the dangers of electronic cigarette use. Please do not risk your health."
