Dilan Polat's husband Engin Polat confesses: 'I sent it as pocket money'
It has been learned that Engin Polat, who was arrested following money laundering accusations, defended the millions of liras in transfers from his account by stating, "I sent 7 million of the 25 million liras to my brother and 18 million to my father as pocket money."
The Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched a money laundering investigation, and new details from the interrogation records of Dilan and Engin Polat, who were arrested as part of the probe, have emerged.
'POCKET MONEY' STATEMENT DRAWS ATTENTION
It has been learned that in his statement, Engin Polat defended the millions of liras in transfers from his account by saying, "I sent 7 million of the 25 million liras to my brother and 18 million to my father as pocket money."
Claiming that he purchased the 16 real estate properties and 24 vehicles registered in his name with earnings from his commercial activities, Engin Polat asserted that the bank transactions in the MASAK report were invoiced and official.
Arguing that the funds were earned from commercial activities and were ordinary expenses deposited into his own account, Polat claimed that the unusual increase in his income was due to inflation.

'MY WIFE'S NEEDS AND POCKET MONEY'
According to the report in Sabah, Engin Polat described the 2 million he sent to Dilan Polat as "my wife's needs," while characterizing the 7 million he sent to his brother and the 18 million he sent to his father as "pocket money."
