Erdal Beşikçioğlu, elected Mayor of Etimesgut, takes office
Actor Erdal Beşikçioğlu has been elected as the new mayor of Etimesgut, where he ran as a candidate for the CHP. Beşikçioğlu received his certificate of election from the District Election Board today.
Actor Erdal Beşikçioğlu was elected mayor of Ankara's Etimesgut district in the March 31 local elections, where he ran as a candidate for the CHP, receiving 56.58 percent of the vote.
The actor, who became an iconic figure for Ankara through his portrayal of Commissioner Behzat in the popular crime series Behzat Ç., received his certificate of election from the District Election Board today to begin his term.
In Ankara's Etimesgut, where actor Erdal Beşikçioğlu—one of the most talked-about figures of this election—ran as the CHP candidate, final results show that Beşikçioğlu received 56.58 percent of the vote.
MHP's Etimesgut Mayor and candidate Enver Demirel remained at 32.62 percent of the vote.
