'Erol Köse was having financial difficulties': Striking statement from Yaşar İpek

The incident occurred around 15:00 in the Maslak neighborhood. According to the information obtained, those who saw a person lying motionless on the ground in front of a 40-story building reported the situation to the police and medical teams.

Upon receiving the report, medical teams arriving at the scene determined that the person lying on the ground was producer Erol Köse (61) and that he had lost his life as a result of falling from the 16th floor.

Crime scene investigation teams carried out their work where Köse fell. The body of the famous producer was taken to the Forensic Medicine Institute morgue to determine the exact cause of death.

"I heard he was having financial difficulties"

Singer Yaşar İpek, who arrived at the scene after receiving the tragic news, said, "I am honestly in shock. I live very close by, but I have known Erol very well since I was 6 years old. It is very hard to believe right now. I mean, he was the last person in this world who would commit suicide. It wouldn't even cross my mind. I don't know, I'm in shock right now.

I was seeing him quite often, but for the last month, his spirits were a bit low. He wasn't saying anything about health problems. I was constantly talking to him, saying things like, 'We'll do something.'

It is truly very hard to believe. Maybe a bit of psychological distress, a bit of what we call professional deformation, you know, there's a bit of that too. I was hearing that he had financial difficulties. Even with these problems, Erol was not the type of character to commit suicide. It is a very sad incident.

He was apparently transferring his rights in music copyright unions to his daughter about a week ago. I think his daughter is here right now; they took her to the hospital," he said.

An ex officio investigation has been launched into the incident by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
