A painful day for famous actor Uraz Kaygılaroğlu: 'The person who raised me is gone...'

Uraz Kaygılaroğlu, whom we know from projects such as 'Sakla Beni', 'Sefirin Kızı', 'Üç Kuruş', 'Karakomik Filmler' and 'Ege'nin Hamsisi', has been shaken by the loss of his grandfather.

The famous actor, who stated that his grandfather Hasan Kaygılaroğlu raised him after his father's death, included the following in his message:

"My dear grandfather, my one and only, my kind-hearted one. You were the most honest, the coolest person I have ever known. If your fruit, your pumpkin seeds, and your action movies were set, you wouldn't look for anything else. If someone didn't argue with you, if they explained things clearly, you wouldn't get angry, you would understand. If you walked about 5-10 km in the morning, that was enough. A few rounds of backgammon towards the evening, and that was it...

You never left me without a park or a bicycle on a weekend. You taught me how to play backgammon, how to be a good person, and the meaning of living honestly. I saw diligence in you, and how to enjoy retirement.

I went to Eid prayers with you, and to Tarawih prayers too. And when I stopped going, you didn't get angry. You were an open-minded man; if you didn't approve of something, you would say 'I wish you wouldn't do that,' but you wouldn't interfere. At least not with me. You always trusted me and patted me on the back. You would show affection by saying, 'You're a smart kid.' I loved you so much too, Grandpa, so much..."

'YOU WERE A GRANDFATHER, YOU WERE A FATHER'

Continuing his words, Kaygılaroğlu said, "You were the one who took me for burgers, and to see your boatman friends on the shore. You let me experience the privileges of being Hasan's grandson in the Fenerbahçe neighborhood. You were a grandfather, you were a father. You were that for everyone, not just for me; your door and your table were always open.

I guess it was an old habit, you would gift socks to everyone. We would marvel with my cousins, saying, 'Can a person really eat this much fruit?' And maybe because you were 96, we would always laugh among ourselves saying, 'I guess he's never going to die.' I love you very much, my grandfather, may God have mercy on your soul."
