Fine for famous actor Şevket Çoruh over profanity

The investigation into actor Şevket Çoruh, launched over allegations that he engaged in profane chanting while in the stands during last season's Galatasaray-Fenerbahçe derby, has concluded.

Footage of Çoruh, who watched the match from the stands on April 26 during the 31st week of the Trendyol Süper League—a game in which Fenerbahçe lost 3-0 away to Galatasaray—was shared on social media, and the video was criticized by many users.

The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office initiated proceedings against Çoruh following the footage under the scope of "insulting chants." The investigation was based on the provisions of Law No. 6222 on the Prevention of Violence and Disorder in Sports.

The regulation in question stipulates that a fine shall be imposed if fans in sports venues engage in public words or behaviors that can be perceived as threats or insults, regardless of whether they are directed at a group or a specific individual.

According to a report by Sabah, the prosecutor's office offered Çoruh a pre-payment settlement as required by law. After Çoruh paid the 5,000 TL fine within the specified period, a decision of non-prosecution was issued in the investigation.
