The first fruit of spring in Mersin: Sold for 8 thousand liras per kilogram!
In an event held on the first day of the plum harvest in Mersin's Göksu neighborhood, the "harbinger of spring" plums, which found buyers at high prices, drew attention.
Acting District Governor İsa Uğur and Mersin Regional Director of Forestry Rıfat Ataş also attended the plum harvest event held in Mersin's Göksu neighborhood. During the event, the ripened plums were meticulously picked and placed into bowls. Known as the "harbinger of spring," the plums were offered for sale in bowls of 9 pieces each and sold for 8 thousand liras per kilogram.

In his speech at the event, Acting District Governor Uğur wished for a productive harvest, stating, "We have carried out one of the earliest plum harvests in our country." Farmer Mustafa Yılmaz noted that there are nearly 40 greenhouses in the region, but they cannot keep up with the demand. Expressing that they sold the plums for 8 thousand liras per kilogram in the first harvest, Yılmaz said, "We sent the 24 kilograms of plums we collected to the domestic market."
In the district, which draws attention with its fresh fruit and vegetable production, the event held in Yılmaz's greenhouse increased interest in the farmers' production processes.
