First hearing in the case regarding Güllü's death concludes: Trial adjourned to October 9

In the hearing held at the Yalova 1st High Criminal Court, the detained defendant Tuğyan Ülkem Gülter denied the accusations of murdering her mother. Gülter stated that she was in her room with Sultan Nur Ulu on the night of the incident and that her mother had joined them, noting that they spent some time together. Gülter said, "A sound was heard. When I turned around, my mother was not there. Then I shouted 'Run' to Sultan."

During the hearing, a message Gülter sent to Kervan Eminoğlu, which read, "My mother is about to throw herself," was also brought up. Gülter argued that the message in question was related to a different matter. The contradictions in the statements given by Sultan Nur Ulu on different dates regarding the incident were also one of the key topics of the hearing. A prison sentence of 2 to 4 years had been requested for Ulu on charges of "perjury." During the hearing, audio recordings, camera footage, and digital evidence from before the incident were also discussed. Tuğyan Ülkem Gülter's lawyer, Merve Uçanok, argued that some of the audio recordings were unlawfully obtained evidence. Following a dispute between the lawyers of the parties, the court panel took a recess.

Sultan Nur Ulu hugging Tuğyan Ülkem Gülter after the incident was also brought up in the hearing. Ulu stated that she hugged Gülter so that it would not appear as a stance, as she felt she had not told the truth about certain matters.

"I think Sultan gave this statement under pressure"

Addressing Sultan Nur Ulu's statements in her defense, Tuğyan Ülkem Gülter said, "I think Sultan gave this statement under pressure. My brother Tuğberk has had arguments with my mother just like I have. In one of their arguments, my mother even pressed the KADES button. But then they made up. My brother, like me, wants the truth to come out."

Speaking about the time she spent in prison, Gülter said, "I have had a difficult 10-month process regarding the time I spent in prison. I am looked at with bad eyes. For 10 months, I have been lynched repeatedly, I have been judged. My private life and family life have continued to be shared in detail every day."

Stating that the process she went through after her mother's death was challenging for her, Gülter said, "What hurts me the most is that I cannot grieve for my mother and that I cannot see my daughter afterwards. There is no crime I am hiding in my conscience. They can accuse me if they want. I am being accused of something I did not do. My conscience is clear. Only I and God know the truth."

Tuğyan Ülkem Gülter's lawyer, Merve Altınok, also argued that the defendant was innocent and that Sultan Ulu's statements were contradictory, requesting the defendant's acquittal.

Speaking after the hearing, Kader Tut's lawyer, Hasan Kocabey, said, "Following the receipt of the defense and statements, it was decided to continue the detention of Tuğyan Ülkem Gülter, to resolve the deficiencies in the file, and to adjourn the hearing to October 9, 2026."
