Flash statement from İpek Kıraç, whom İnan Kıraç disinherited: My father is creating a perception

Businessman İnan Kıraç announced that he has disinherited his daughter İpek Kıraç, alleging that she wanted to seize his assets.

İnan Kıraç stated that he would donate all his assets to children in need of education through a foundation he will establish.

Businessman İnan Kıraç had filed a lawsuit against his daughter, İpek Kıraç, over the inheritance of his wife, Suna Kıraç, the daughter of Koç Holding founder Vehbi Koç, who passed away in 2020.

'THE LAWSUIT HAS NOT YET BEEN CONCLUDED'

Following the issue coming to the agenda, İpek Kıraç made a written statement. Kıraç used the following expressions:

"First of all, I would like to state that the ongoing legal process first began with the lawsuit filed by my father, İnan Kıraç, in January 2023, aimed at canceling the certificate of inheritance issued in accordance with the will of my mother, Suna Kıraç.

Therefore, although I am the visible party in the lawsuit, my father, İnan Kıraç, is actually suing his wife, Suna Kıraç, and her final wishes. The scope has expanded with new lawsuits added over time, and finally, a new lawsuit has been filed against me with a request for disinheritance. The first hearing of this lawsuit has not even been held yet, and the news that it has been concluded is false.

While I do not find it appropriate to comment on the ongoing legal processes, I do not find it right or fair to allow a perception management campaign against me through news that appears to have been provided to the press by my father and does not reflect the truth. My effort to protect the moral and material legacy my mother left me is being portrayed as if I am trying to seize what is not mine."

'IT SADDENS ME'

"However, contrary to what is stated in the news, the decision in the first court of the ongoing lawsuit process was in my favor, and the legitimacy of the inheritance my mother left me has been legally registered.

It is my family that made me who I am as “İpek”; they raised me and invested effort in me. Despite this, my father bringing up the fact that I was “adopted” at every opportunity is the issue that saddens me the most throughout this entire process. My mother is Suna Kıraç, and my father is İnan Kıraç. Even if they did not give birth to me, I was raised by my family around certain values and principles.

As such, the steps my father has taken in recent years contrary to these principles, the circles and topics he is mentioned in, and the decisions that harm him, our institutions, and our family unfortunately both surprise and sadden me.

Despite everything, aware of our family's responsibilities to this country, I am defending the moral and material legacy my mother entrusted to me and working to keep it alive. My greatest wish for the continuation of the process is for my father to remember that we are a family and that we must protect this legacy together.

I still maintain my hope that my father, who raised me with great love, will act with the same desire. Because all these lawsuits are, in essence, contrary to my mother's will and moral legacy, and there will be no winner regardless of the outcome."

WHAT HAPPENED?

Kıraç had requested an injunction on the 20.13 percent stake in Temel Ticaret ve Yatırım AŞ that passed to his daughter İpek Kıraç through his wife Suna Kıraç's will. Furthermore, he had demanded that 25 percent of the shares that passed into his daughter İpek Kıraç's ownership be given to him in accordance with the Civil Code.

İpek Kıraç, on the other hand, had alleged that her father, İnan Kıraç, had irregularly transferred hundreds of millions of dollars from the account belonging to the late Suna Kıraç, the daughter of Vehbi Koç, and had sold a portion of the Koç Holding shares for 600 Million TL, and had requested an injunction on her father's assets. Upon İpek Kıraç's request, the court decided to place a precautionary injunction on the Karsan company shares belonging to İnan Kıraç.

İnan Kıraç has recently come to the agenda many times through various events.

The name of İnan Kıraç, who held senior management positions at Koç Holding for many years, had been recorded in the testimony given to US prosecutors by Sezgin Baran Korkmaz, who was tried in the US on charges of money laundering.

Organized crime leader Sedat Peker had also claimed in the videos he shot last year that the owner of the 45 million dollar receivable that SBK Holding owner Sezgin Baran Korkmaz claimed was deleted was İnan Kıraç.

According to Peker's claim, İnan Kıraç asked for help from the government to delete the receivable that Sezgin Baran Korkmaz claimed, Korkmaz was called to the Ministry of Interior, and after being informed, he was allowed to flee abroad. During this time, Korkmaz's receivable was deleted, and the shares of SBK Holding, which held a 45 percent stake in Kıraça Holding via the Luxembourg-based Silcolux company and a 28.56 percent stake in Karsan via Kıraça Holding, were transferred.

Kıraç's name was previously mentioned in the 2016 Panama Papers and the 2021 Pandora Papers leaks.

The Pandora Papers leaks, which began to be shared with the public on October 3, 2021, consisted of documents from 14 offshore service providers and law firms, including Trident Trust, Alpha, Alcogal, Fidinam, and Asiaciti Trust, used by world leaders, politicians, business people, and artists from all over the world to avoid taxes.

According to the documents, İpek and İnan Kıraç, who work with different firms providing offshore services such as Morgan & Morgan Trust, Fidinam, and Alcogal, own two companies based in the British Virgin Islands called Key Square Capital Partners Ltd and Key Square Capital Partners II Ltd.

The documents were shared by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ). More than 600 journalists from 117 countries examined them, and the secret offshore secrets of the world's elite were revealed.

On the other hand, it was learned that İnan Kıraç communicated with some media outlets to create a positive impression in the public eye during the lawsuit process in which he faced his daughter İpek Kıraç.
