Forbes billionaire list released: 27 names from Turkey included

American business magazine Forbes has published its 38th annual billionaires list.

The number of billionaires on the list reached a record level of 2,781, an increase of 141 compared to last year. The total wealth of the billionaires also rose by 2 trillion dollars to 14.2 trillion dollars.

French businessman Bernard Arnault and his family topped the list with 233 billion dollars (185 billion euros). Forbes stated that there are 2,781 billionaires on the 2024 list.

Singer-songwriter Swift entered the Forbes rich list for the first time after reaching megastar status. The star, who drew attention at this year's Grammy Awards, became the first artist to win the "album of the year" award four times.

Eight of the world's top 10 richest people were from the US; six of them earned their wealth in the technology industries.

Following Arnault and his family, Tesla and X (formerly Twitter) owner Elon Musk ranked second with a net worth of 195 billion dollars (155 billion euros). He was followed by Amazon owner Jeff Bezos in third place.

Musk's wealth increased by 8 percent compared to last year, but it has seen a decline from his net worth in November 2021, when he became the first person to have a fortune of 300 billion dollars (239 billion euros).

Basketball legend Magic Johnson also joined the Forbes list with a fortune of 1.2 billion dollars (950 million euros).

THERE ARE 27 BILLIONAIRES FROM TURKEY

27 names from Turkey were included in the Forbes list this year. With a fortune of 5.1 billion dollars, Murat Ülker is the richest person in Turkey and was ranked 597th on the list.

Selçuk Bayraktar and Haluk Bayraktar, who were income tax record holders in 2021 and 2022, were also among the new names joining the Forbes list this year.

The total wealth of Turkish billionaires was calculated at approximately 56.1 billion dollars.
