Former model and actor Yaşar Alptekin, who turned toward spirituality in recent years, was spotted by cameras in Eminönü the other day.

Alptekin gave a sermon to the congregation at the Marputçular Mosque.

'IF NECESSARY, EVEN YOUR PARENTS'...'

The famous figure, who held a religious talk, drew attention to the importance of the prayers and blessings of one's parents and said the following:

"I am very happy to have been honored with Islam. No matter how much I thank my Lord, it is not enough. An elder once told me, 'God rewarded you because of your attitude toward your mother and father.' That is why, if necessary, even kiss the smelly socks of your mothers and fathers..."

WHO IS YAŞAR ALPTEKİN?

Yaşar Alptekin (born March 10, 1962, Tekirdağ) is a Turkish model, dancer, and actor.

Interested in dance from a young age, Alptekin participated in a dance competition organized by the Günaydın newspaper in 1981. After returning from military service, he began modeling at an early age; he then started acting and was quickly noticed for his roles in TV series and feature films; he particularly stood out with his identity as both an actor and a dancer in the film Lambada (Gençlik Ateşi). He appeared in various promotional films on certain private TV channels.

In 1985, he was chosen as the photo-novel beauty in a competition organized by the Hürriyet newspaper and hosted by Halit Kıvanç. In 1988, he married textile manufacturer Nilgün Altınyay. His daughter from this marriage, Ayris Alptekin, is also an actress. His wife, Nilgün Altınyay, passed away in 2020.

In the later periods of his life, he adopted a conservative lifestyle and has participated in various programs on different TV channels, sharing insights on Islamic topics. He stated that the funeral ceremony of Sakıp Sabancı was influential in his decision to make this change.

Alptekin, who also went to Mecca to perform his Hajj pilgrimage, took part in a theatrical play titled Düzceli Mehmet.

The actor, who portrayed the main character Shams Tabrizi in the 2014 TV film Aşkın Gözyaşları directed by Tekin Gün, has one daughter from his first marriage.
