French artist Ben Vautier dies by suicide following his wife's passing

Vautier's wife passed away two days after suffering a stroke on Monday.

The artist's family stated, "Unable to live without her and unwilling to do so, Ben ended his own life a few hours later at their home in the south of France."

The Swiss-born French artist Benjamin Vautier was known by the pseudonym Ben.

The couple married in the 1960s and had two children.
