Actor Mehmet Yılmaz Ak breaks silence after harassment allegations

A new addition has been made to the disclosures made by women in the art world. Photographer Dilan Bozyel has made harassment allegations against actor Mehmet Yılmaz Ak, whom she stated is a distant relative.

In a post on her social media account, Bozyel stated, "We were in Diyarbakır. I was 16 years old, we were in the same class at the same school. He tried to be with me by holding a gun to my head."

Bozyel also explained the reason for her silence for many years with the following words:

"Because he is a very distant relative on my father's side, I kept it hidden for years as I foresaw that a blood feud would break out. Just like many other things I kept hidden. He did not apologize; he must have regretted it, of course. He was also a child, an adolescent. He could not have known that day that he would become a 'famous' actor. He might blame me for this disclosure now. If he has any conscience, I leave it to him. Because he knows very well what he did. In summary, speak up, and provide visible support to people who speak up so that your turn does not come."

Responding to the accusations made against him, Mehmet Yılmaz Ak categorically denied the allegations.

In a statement he made via social media, the actor noted the following:

"I would like to state that baseless and ugly accusations and slanders have been made against me through some social media accounts, news outlets, and individuals, that these ugly accusations and slanders have no basis in reality, and that legal proceedings will be initiated by my lawyers against all individuals and institutions that try to harm my personality, values, and career by serving this slander under the name of an 'allegation'."
