He passed away yesterday at 19:30 due to multiple organ failure after a 52-day treatment period.

Born on December 29, 1950, in Gaziantep, Edip Akbayram contracted polio when he was just nine months old, leaving one of his legs disabled. The artist, who stepped into music during his high school years, won first place in the 1971 Golden Microphone Competition with "Kükredi Çimenler".

Becoming one of the leading names in Anatolian pop music with the Dostlar Orchestra, which he founded in 1974, Akbayram achieved great success with works such as "Aldırma Gönül", "Eşkıya Dünyaya Hükümdar Olmaz", and "Deniz Üstü Köpürür". Having won more than 250 awards throughout his career, the artist inspired millions with his music.
