CHP boycott shows its effect! DBL owner Özkan, who called them 'traitors', takes a step back
Facing massive backlash after his "traitor" remark, DBL Entertainment owner Abdülkadir Özkan announced that he regrets his actions and has lost millions of dollars following his social media post. Stating "I wish I hadn't posted that tweet," Özkan noted that his company has suffered significant losses due to cancelled concerts.
The boycott call announced by the CHP, which found a significant response in society, has begun to make its impact felt in concert organizations as well. The primary target was the concerts of DBL Entertainment, which operates under Dolmabahçe A.Ş.
The Ane Brun concert and the Trevor Noah show organized by the company were cancelled, while the Muse concert was postponed. Company owner Abdülkadir Özkan, who made a post on his social media account, announced that they were withdrawing from all projects.
In a statement to Halk TV presenter İsmail Küçükkaya, Abdülkadir Özkan said, "I am being treated unfairly, I have been lynched for three days, and I am deeply regretful. I am actually someone who has often been lynched by pro-government media and Akit due to my opposition views."
"I am someone who tweeted when the Barış journalists were detained, asking 'How can this be, they are journalists, why are you detaining them in the middle of the night?'" Özkan said, adding: "But this lynching is unfair to me; I am a taxpayer who pays their taxes. When these young people reached out and famous artists cancelled their concerts, millions of dollars of mine went up in smoke. I wish I hadn't posted that tweet; now I am dealing with injustice."
WHAT DID ABDÜLKADİR ÖZKAN SAY?
While the social media posts of Abdülkadir Özkan, the owner of the company operating under Dolmabahçe A.Ş., sparked a major backlash, the concert organizations of world-famous artists became the target of the boycott.
Özkan had reacted to the young people who joined the boycott call made by CHP Chairman Özgür Özel against the Espressolab brand.
Quoting a post about Espressolab by pro-government figure Zafer Şahin, Özkan had written, "This is clear and blatant hostility toward capital; it is treason."
