Derya Uluğ's anorexia confession: 'I was stubborn and regained my health'

Nihal Candan, who had been receiving treatment for anorexia nervosa for a long time and whose weight had dropped to 23 kilograms, passed away at the hospital where she was being treated.

This painful loss at a young age has once again revealed the serious consequences that eating disorders can lead to.

Following the passing of Nihal Candan, singer Derya Uluğ made a notable post on her social media account.

Uluğ stated that she had also struggled with anorexia during her university years and had regained her health after a long process.

'I WAS STUBBORN DURING THIS PROCESS WHERE I DROPPED TO 39 KILOGRAMS AND I REGAINED MY HEALTH'

In her post, Derya Uluğ shared her own experiences with these words: "As someone who lived through and overcame anorexia during my university years, I want to say that unhealthy thinness due to social media pressures or other reasons is much more dangerous than people think.

I know the nights I prayed just to be able to eat a slice of bread. I understood what a great blessing it is to be able to eat after those days. During this process, which lasted 2 years and where I dropped to 39 kilograms, I was stubborn and regained my health. However, Nihal Candan was not that lucky. I am very sad, may she rest in peace."

'DO NOT LET YOUR LIFE BE TAKEN FROM YOU'

"My advice to our young girls is this: thinness does not mean beauty. Health is more valuable than anything else. If you are happy looking thin, please do it through sports and healthy eating.

When other methods take your health away, all that remains is a weak and unhealthy body. Please do not give in to social media pressures and guidance, and do not let your life be taken from you."

Singer Derya Uluğ, who came to the agenda with her thin appearance following a post she made last week, had made a statement regarding her weight after the comments she received. Uluğ had responded to the claims by saying, "I haven't lost weight, I just look that way because of the angle."
