Director Olgun Özdemir has passed away

Olgun Özdemir, the director of the films "Kızım Gibi Kokuyorsun" (You Smell Like My Daughter) and "Tatlı Süt Köpüğü" (Sweet Milk Foam), has passed away due to a heart attack.

The passing of Olgun Özdemir was announced by the Film Directors Association on their social media account with the following statement:

"We have unfortunately lost our colleague, director Olgun Özdemir, this morning due to a heart attack. Our condolences to his family and our community."

Özdemir, who was deemed worthy of numerous national and international awards for the film projects he brought to life, will be laid to rest tomorrow following the afternoon prayer at the Kaynaklar Village Central Mosque in İzmir.

WHO IS OLGUN ÖZDEMİR?

Born on August 18, 1974, in the Buca district of İzmir, Özdemir made significant contributions to cinema with many short films, documentaries, and feature films.

Having completed his primary education in Germany, Özdemir graduated from İzmir Atatürk High School and entered the Istanbul University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in 1991.

Due to his interest in cinema, he transferred to the Directing Department of the Media Academy in Cologne, Germany, in 1994.

Participating in the cinema workshop studies of the Cologne Yunus Emre Institute, Özdemir realized numerous short film and documentary projects in both Turkey and Germany.

Özdemir directed the films "Vicdan Ağacı" (Tree of Conscience) in 2015, "Mor Ufuklar" (Purple Horizons) in 2016, "Kızım Gibi Kokuyorsun" (You Smell Like My Daughter) in 2019, and "Tatlı Süt Köpüğü" (Sweet Milk Foam) in 2022.
