Hakan Ural claims he waited in gas cylinder queues in his youth! 'We used to drive to Bodrum in 18 hours with 4 breaks'

Hakan Ural, who turned to commentary after leaving modeling and acting and is among the prominent figures close to the government, made headlines with his remarks on the program "Sözün Özü" on Ekol TV.

Ural, who showers the AKP government with praise at every opportunity, told of his experiences in his youth, saying, "Today's youth don't know these things." Claiming that he waited in queues for gas cylinders, oil, and fuel with his friends in his youth, Ural said that he could only reach Bodrum in 18 hours with 4 breaks.

"OUR LIVES WERE SPENT IN QUEUES"

"If there is constant insult, constant fighting, and constant negativity within your own country, you will miss what you have. You know that thing you don't like today, whatever it is, you will look for it with a candle. We looked for it. Ask me, 'How did you look for it?'

I didn't read about these things, I lived them. Remzi, Raşit, Güven... And there was Metin among us. This is what we used to do. Ask my age group. I was 16-17 years old, 35-40 years ago. We would say; 'You go get firewood, you go get a gas cylinder, you go get bread, you go get oil.' We also used to go get fuel.

Our lives were spent in queues. We grew up like this, we lived like this. Every place we went was kilometers of queues. And usually, just as our turn came, they would say, 'It's out!' We would jump in the queues so our toes wouldn't freeze."

We lived through these, we saw these. We saw curfews, we saw coups. I used to keep pigeons, I couldn't go out to the terrace. I tell the soldier brother, 'I'm going to feed the pigeons,' he says, 'There was a coup, there is a curfew.' Now the youth don't know these things. The people of this country paid very heavy prices. In our time, there was a place we now know as the Sports Exhibition Palace. Going to Bodrum with buses departing from there was our greatest luxury. We couldn't sleep from excitement starting from January. The journey would take 17-18 hours, and four breaks would be taken. If we could manage to reach Bodrum, we would be exhausted that day. Because after sitting in an 'S' shape on the bus for 16-17 hours, our blood circulation... Even when we were young... We would recover by the next evening. Today, people go to Ankara in the morning for the day and come back in the evening. And one should also look at what was endured to make these breakthroughs."
