He ate at IMM's City Restaurants: Vedat Milor responds to 'he was paid' allegations
Gastronomy writer Vedat Milor, who visited an Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) City Restaurant with his wife and dined with IPA President Buğra Gökce, has issued a statement regarding allegations that he was paid for the visit.
Food critic Vedat Milor recently visited an IBB City Restaurant with his wife.
Milor, who ate a 4-course meal for 40 TL along with IPA President Buğra Gökce, had evaluated the quality of the food and the general state of the restaurant.
Milor had stated, "The cleanliness is striking. There is meat, lentil soup, pasta, and fruit or dessert. It is incredible that this meal costs 40 TL. I tried the lentil soup. It is delicious. The consistency is very good. The lentil flavor comes through well." He added, "This place is not like a soup kitchen; it is an affordable tradesman restaurant. It does not hurt people's dignity. Ekrem İmamoğlu has read the spirit of the times very well; I hope their numbers increase."
Following the video in which Milor evaluated the City Restaurants, some users on social media criticized him. Some users claimed that Milor was paid for the video.
Following these allegations, Vedat Milor issued a statement. In a post on his X account, Milor denied the claims in question.
Stating that he was the one who proposed going with IPA President Buğra Gökce, Milor noted that he would resort to legal action against baseless slanders.
Milor's post is as follows:
"My visit to the City Restaurant took place entirely on my own initiative, and I was the one who proposed going with Mr. Buğra. My goal was to evaluate this service from both a gastronomic and sociological perspective, as both a food critic and a sociologist. A restaurant that offers a four-course meal for 40 TL is a remarkable example in terms of both taste and social impact.
I did not receive payment from any institution. I would like to state that from now on, I will resort to legal action against such baseless slanders."
