Kerem Alışık on his father Sadri Alışık: My father always loved me while I was sleeping

Master actor Kerem Alışık was a guest on Candaş Tolga Işık's program titled "Az Önce Konuştum." He spoke about the difficulties and unknown aspects of growing up in the shadow of important figures in the art world, such as his father Sadri Alışık, his mother Çolpan İlhan, and his uncle Attila İlhan.

Stating that having Sadri Alışık as a father, Çolpan İlhan as a mother, and Attila İlhan as an uncle was a great stroke of luck for him, Alışık noted that this situation also required a great deal of struggle.

Alışık said, "You struggle twice to prove yourself. Because there can be negative thoughts due to the family advantage. I got good grades, they said, 'he's his father's son.' I played professional football, they said the same thing. Those who remain in the shadow have no shadow of their own, so I always tried harder."

When asked by Candaş Tolga Işık, "The sons of very successful men are usually unsuccessful, but you are an exception. How did you achieve this?" Alışık replied, "This is something I learned from my family. Thanks to my mother and father, I understood the importance of hard work at a young age. Our home was a conservatory. I learned the depths of the profession and how to stand on my own two feet in life there."

Kerem Alışık said that he always faced obstacles because of his family and that he did not grow up with the mentality of a rich kid. Saying, "I grew up in the streets, experiencing scarcity amidst abundance," Alışık touched upon the importance of patience and hope in his life.

Describing his father as a stern, disciplined, and authoritarian figure, Alışık said, "My mother would put bananas, apples, and oranges in front of me. My father would say, 'What are you doing? Put one on the plate, he will eat whatever he finds.' When you grow up with the reality of life like this, you learn a lot."

Kerem Alışık said that his biggest regret in life was not being able to touch his father with his art and that his father could not see his art, adding, "This is the biggest 'if only' in my life."

Speaking about his father Sadri Alışık, whom he lost in 1995, Kerem Alışık said, "He was a stern man. He was disciplined, he was authoritarian. My father always loved me while I was sleeping."

Kerem Alışık stated that the father-son farewell scene in the film Arif V 216 was an emotional moment for him. Alışık described his experience regarding the scene as follows: "Cem Yılmaz had written the scene very beautifully, but there was no reconciliation scene. I told Cem, let's add such a scene. During the shoot, I likened Mert to my father so much that my eyes kept welling up. We had to stop the shoot many times. It was very difficult, but it was very beautiful."
